Strutt|Fundamentals|Speed of Sound calculates the wave velocity of sound in air as a function of temperature using the following ideal-gas equation:

c_(ideal) = sqrt((gamma R T )/ M)

where:
gamma = 1.4 is the adiabatic index
R = 8.3145 is the ideal gas constant
M = 0.029 is the molar mass of dry air
T is the air temperature (in Kelvin)
